Medical Genetics: CGC Genetics is the 1st accredited Portuguese private laboratory
"Recognized internationally in the diagnosis of genetic diseases, CGC Genetics is now the first Portuguese private laboratory to receive accreditation in medical genetics, a distinction awarded by the IPAC - Portuguese Institute of Accreditation.
The accreditation received is based on the international standard ISO 15189, used to evaluate clinical laboratories around the world. In this way, the technical skills and good practices carried out by CGC Genetics, Portugal's oldest privately held genetics genetics laboratory, are thus certified at all levels.
For the attribution of this distinction, IPAC evaluated all laboratory components that affect the production of data related to the tests and consequently the results. Through this process, the accreditation of laboratories gives the clients the guarantee of quality and competence, due to the high degree of requirement inherent to the normative.
Medical genetics: only five private laboratories
In recent years, CGC Genetics has made a number of investments in the order of three million euros, including the latest generation of "New Generation Sequencing" (NGS) equipment, which allow a single test to sequence a gene, multiple genes or exome complete. A technology that has delivered significant advances in genetic diagnostics by shortening deadlines and reducing costs.
