Certifications

The continuous participation of the management team in activities and results of CGC Genetics led to the establishment of Quality Management System, according to ISO 9001:2008 standards.

Responding to the challenge of optimizing internal processes, objective focus and long-term strategic planning, CGC Genetics implemented a Research, Development and Innovation Management System ("Sistema de Gestão da Qualidade e inovação” - SGIDI) according to NP 4457 standards. By February 2009, CGC Genetics became the first Portuguese Laboratory with a certified Research, Development and Innovation Management System. The scope of the certification is: research, development and innovation of products, processes, methods, organizational knowledge of services and Human Genetics tests.

CGC Genetics is the first genetics laboratory in Portugal with specific clinical laboratory license to operate in California. The license became particularly important because California legislation firmly restricts companies to provide health services, enforcing strict requirements for this purpose.

A strict quality policy and technology development capacity for new tests enabled CGC Genetics to become CLIA licensed - Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments.

In 2014, after a local audit by CMS, CGC Genetics obtained the CLIA certification of compliance.

The aim of CLIA program is to establish quality standards for all laboratory tests, ensuring accuracy, reliability, reproducibility and punctuality of test results, regardless of where the analysis is performed.

In February 2019, CGC Genetics became the first Portuguese private laboratory accredited in the field of Medical Genetics. The ISO 15189 accreditation has been confirmed by IPAC - Portuguese Institute of Accreditation and is the evidence of the laboratory's competence, recognition and distinction in meeting the most demanding quality requirements.
