Anatomic Pathology

Anatomical Pathology is a medical specialty dedicated to disorder diagnosis.

Anatomical pathology diagnostic exam is based in macro and microscopic examination of surgical specimens. In different parts can be made based on the cytopathological analysis. Autopsy diagnosis is gradually being limited to clinical embryo-fetal and neonatal autopsies.

The embryo-fetal/neonatal autopsy as well as the anatomical pathology study of the placenta have taken an important place in recent decades in establishing the cause of fetal/neonatal loss and in understanding the impact of injuries in child development at school age and childhood.

The Anatomical Pathology/Embryofetopathology Laboratory at CGC Genetics consists of a team of medical and technical experts in Anatomical Pathology and organizational staff, which particularly developed their professional activity in the field of obstetric surgical pathology: placenta, embryo, fetus, newborn, uterine pathology in the context of pregnancy or postpartum and ectopic pregnancy.

At the Anatomical Pathology/Embryofetopathology Laboratory of CGC Genetics we conduct a systematic macroscopic and microscopic study, with integrated and clinically oriented pathological diagnostics. We can make use of our genetic and molecular diagnostic tools to complement fetopathology and placental studies.

Because CGC Genetics is a center with complementary medical specialties, a multidisciplinary integration and assessment of clinical implications for each case is possible in future pregnancies, for either maternal or familial pathologies.
