Genetic tests are nowadays presented as tests of easy access, for clinical and non-clinical applications, frequently raising questions about its real utility and medical application.
Therefore, CGC intends to provide the following clarifications to all interested in our services:

1. CGC does not offer genetic studies on the Internet, or any other form of communication considered as ‘direct sale to a consumer’ without a physician’s prescription.

2. Genetic testing performed at CGC necessarily requires an individualized medical indication that demonstrates its technical validity and clinical utility and considers its possibilities and limitations.

3. CGC has a department with six Medical Geneticists and two Psychologists, providing the necessary previous genetic counselling and support and guidance after the results.

4. CGC does not provide clinical information of their patients on the Internet. All reports are sent directly to the ordering physician. In addition, CGC’s databases are registered in the National Commission for Data Protection.

5. CGC follows a rigorous quality control policy, possesses a set of certifications and external quality evaluations that is internationally unique, and has obtained repeatedly Excellent results in these evaluations.

6. CGC provides predictive genetic tests for no other than medical purposes.

7. CGC is still expecting effective regulation, as to the one of the Council of Europe, that submits Genetic Laboratories to appropriate licensing, avoiding incorrect commercial practices.
