On June 2008, CGC Genetics was one of the 13 genetic laboratories that received a ‘Notice to cease and desist performing genetic testing without licensure or physician order’ from the Californian Department of Public Health.
After this announcement, CGC Genetics, who aims to consistently deliver a professional medical service to his customers, underwent a certification process receiving the Clinical Laboratory License for the State of California on January 2009.
This new license enables CGC Genetics, who performs a large list of genetic diagnostics, and specializes in testing rare diseases, among other diagnostic microarray methodology (patent pending), to resume the previous collaborations with Californian institutions.
The notification of CGC Genetics did not apply, because CGC has CLIA since 2007 and does not offer tests ‘directly to the consumer’. |
