CGC Genetics receives prize from New North Awards

On May 27, 2010 the New North Awards committee distinguished CGC Genetics “for its strong innovative character, internationalization, contribution to the North, and for introducing a new model of development and participation in the Health Cluster Portugal”.
The New North Awards, promoted CGC ARRAY as an “Innovative Methodology” in global terms. It was designed for rapid identification mutations associated with genetic diseases. “This methodology allows a timely diagnosis, a reduced cost and is being very well received internationally” says Purificacao Tavares, CEO and Clinical Director of CGC.
New North Awards are promoted by the North Committee and Regional Development of the North, that manages the Regional Operational North Programme, and also by the newspaper JN.
CGC Genetics, with headquarters in Porto, Portugal was the first private laboratory of medical genetics which initiated activity in 1992. It currently has five specialized laboratory departments, an office in Spain and in the U.S.A.
In addition, CGC has international agreements in countries such as Greece, Canada, and Saudi Arabia. On a yearly basis it provides more than 1,500 genetic tests and process over 50,000 analyses.
