About us

For over two decades, CGC Genetics has been the leading provider of specialty genetic tests in Portugal and has grown into one of Europe’s major clinical laboratories. Today, we receive samples for genetic testing from all over the world from public and private hospitals, physician clinics, university medical centers, reference labs and insurance companies. The company offers more than 1,500 genetic tests covering all major medical disciplines including prenatal screening and diagnosis, hematology, oncology, neurology, cardiology, preventive medicine, common and rare diseases and pharmacogenetics.

CGC has reinforced its global reach by opening new facilities in the United States and acquiring two laboratories in Spain. With highly skilled medical genetics and laboratory specialists working within five major divisions: Molecular Diagnostics, Cytogenetics, Clinical Genomics, Prenatal Screening and Pathology. Our strong investment in innovation and development of new genetic tests, positions CGC as an international reference laboratory with more than 162 entries in reference laboratory genetic databases. For some diseases, CGC is the sole diagnostics provider. In addition, we have developed and offer a series of patent pending panels known as CGC Mutation Panels that offer an exceptional value in molecular diagnostics.

CGC has committed to high quality standards and international quality assessments including: ISO 9001 (since 2004), CLIA License (since 2007), Clinical Laboratory License for the State of California, Certification for Management of Research, Development and Innovation (NP 4457), and participates on several External Quality Assessments Schemes in Medical Genetics, such as:

CGC Genetics collaborates in many PhD and Master thesis, receives Erasmus Students and is affiliated to UMDNJ- New Jersey Medical School. In addition to our clinical lab activities, we are also involved in research and development projects with other organizations using our extensive R&D expertise and infrastructure.
